The banjo has a body similar to a tambourine with four or five strings. The strings cross above a pressure bridge and are attached to a tailpiece. These vibrate and also cause the stretched animal hide or plastic membrane to vibrate.
The word Clarinet is derived from the Italian word clarino meaning trumpet with the suffix –et which means little. Thus, the name clarinet or little trumpet. In jazz, it is also called liquorice stick. A person who plays it is a clarinetist.
The octavin is a woodwind instrument with a single reed and cone-shaped bore. It is said to be very similar to the saxophone especially in length and range but it also has its differences. Compared to the saxophone’s, the cone-shaped bore of the octavin has a smaller taper.
